Five defenders or four: Germany is still a long way off. Today Manuel Neuer had to get the ball out of his goal three times, but in response the Germans also managed to score three goals. Switzerland scored their goals thanks to well-coordinated teamwork and good understanding, Germany’s goals are of the exceptionally high class of Werner, Havertz and Gnabry.
So Joachim Lev, either after hearing criticism, or for his own reasons, decided to return to the four defenders. Zyule was in reserve, another forward was ahead. However, the match against Switzerland confirmed that the problem was not the number of defenders, but the quality of the defensive work.
Switzerland gave up the ball and were very successful in counterattacks. However, Nati did not sit too low and was always ready to catch the owners in error. For example, in the opening minutes Switzerland intercepted the ball after cutting Gnabry, after two or three passes the ball ended up in Shaqiri’s corner of the goalkeeper’s angle, but the Liverpool midfielder tried too arrogantly to strike between Neuer’s legs.
But the Swiss managed to score an early goal. Klostermann unsuccessfully cleared the ball after a corner from Shaqiri, Freuler returned it to the penalty area and the German defenders made a mistake by creating an artificial offside. Gavranovich got the perfect header.
Germany began to pressure Switzerland in quantity and put pressure on the guests at Sommer’s doorstep. However, the Bundestim had practically no chances and the guests managed to score the second goal. Kroos lost the ball in midfield, then he himself unsuccessfully went to the national team and Switzerland played a vertical attack in three touches. Gavranovich – Seferovich – a graceful Freuler parachute – and the ball is in goal. 0: 2. The Bundestim didn’t even have time to blink, this attack was played as fast as lightning.
Germany did not swim and immediately responded with their own ball. This was exclusively the merit of Timo Werner. The Chelsea striker brought together four defenders from the Swiss national team, but at the same time managed to hit Sommer’s goal with a soft but accurate blow.
At the start of the second half, Havertz almost scored a Werner double, but hit the post. However, the Chelsea billionaire newcomer did not leave the field without a goal. Again, this was a purely individual effort, not a glimpse of Bundestim team play. Havertz himself made an interception in the Swiss half, advanced the ball and shot past Sommer – 2: 2.
Germany would not have been Germany if the third goal had not been scored immediately after Havertz’s difficult and long-suffering goal. A simple split pass from Gavranovich to Seferovic, the Benfica forward struck twice at point-blank range, but failed to score, the ball eventually bouncing back to Gavranovich himself, who hit Neuer with a strong blow under the crossbar.
The madness did not end there. Three minutes later, Germany equalized again. Known names: Havertz sent Werner to the side, the Chelsea forward crossed and Serge Gnabry scored the last goal of this exciting match with his heel.
3: 3! Anything can happen in this group.
