Ukraine’s first racket Elina Svitolina (No. 5 WTA) won another victory at the French Open.

In the third round match, the Ukrainian defeated Russia’s first racket Ekaterina Aleksandrova (No. 31 WTA).

The match against Alexandrova did not become a revelation for the Ukrainian fans. We all hoped that this was not the most interesting match with the victory of the Ukrainian tennis player. Russia’s first racket on clay seems many times weaker than on hard clay, and can hardly create serious problems even for Svitolina, who plays at 80%. No matter how events played out on the court, in the end Elina still had to win.

From the start of the match, Ekaterina relied on her attacking power and good first serve. She tried to dictate her terms, but the climate was on the side of the tennis player, who played more defensively. This forced the Russian woman to take more risks and therefore make more mistakes. By the way, Alexandrova made 10 more unforced errors today than in the previous two matches combined. Of course, this is a great credit to Svitolina, who, due to her superior class and great experience, incited these same mistakes even more.

In the first game the girls defended the service very well, only in the tenth game Elina managed to organize a break. The Ukrainian added a bit late in the set, and the opponent couldn’t keep her concentration and made a mistake.

In the second game, intrigue and breaking points were present in almost all games, but the girls in most cases managed to escape. At 4: 3, Svitolina had a concealed double ball, but this time it didn’t work out with the conversion. The case had to be postponed a bit, but the Russian woman flinched again when she asked to stay in the game. And if after the first time she could still change something in this meeting, after the second, for her everything ended in defeat.

There is a victory and a departure in the fourth round, and that means that last year’s result, Svitolina, died. Okay, a lot depends on the giveaway. It is much more enjoyable to play in the third round against Alexandrova than against Mugurus.

Note that Elina won 16 of the last 18 matches against tennis players from Russia.

In the next round, Svitolina will face Caroline Garcia from France (No. 45 WTA) or Eliza Mertens from Belgium (No. 20 WTA).
