An ancient instrument was found at the Porubnoye checkpoint on the Romanian border in the Chernivtsi region.

A Bulgarian citizen tried to remove a 1687 Stradivarius violin from Ukraine. This was reported by the State Border Service on Wednesday 23 December.

Border guards, together with customs officials, are reported to have found the old instrument at the Porubnoye checkpoint on the Romanian border in the Chernivtsi region.

A citizen of Bulgaria, driving from Ukraine in a Kia car, attempted to illegally transport items that are likely to have great cultural and historical value across the border.

In addition to the Stradivarius violin, which indicates the year of manufacture in 1687, the search team found among the belongings of the 53-year-old foreigner also numismatic values: six coins, one of which is dated 1780.

The value of the discovered items will be established with the help of an examination.

We will recall, in the Lviv region on the border with Poland, border guards stopped an attempt to transport 1.5 million hryvnia branded clothing. The party started from France.
