Ukraine’s Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said on January 24 that the country is returning to the regime it had before January 8. In addition, the introduction of adaptive quarantine is planned.

In Ukraine, a “winter break quarantine” was introduced from January 8 to 24 so that there are no new restrictions in the spring, so no further strengthening of quarantine measures is expected. This was announced on January 24 by the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Maksim Stepanov, on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24, the video was published on the YouTube channel.

He noted that the dates from January 8 to 24 were chosen based on the lower economic activity at that time of year.

“It was like this that later, between April and May, we were able to go through without introducing severe restrictions, when the work of gyms, entire sectors of the economy, was closed,” said Stepanov.

According to him, the ministry’s strategy is that the country is now returning to the regime it had before January 8.

From January 8 to 24, due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus outbreak in Ukraine, a “winter holiday quarantine” is in effect. During this period, the work of catering establishments, shopping centers, gyms, non-food markets, educational institutions (except kindergartens) is prohibited.

Starting on January 25, after the end of the “winter holiday quarantine” in Ukraine, the restrictions that were in December 2020 will be in effect, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic. Since the beginning of the epidemic in Ukraine, the coronavirus was confirmed in 1,191,812 people, 947,514 cases were recovered, 21,861 died.
