Ukraine’s Health Minister Maxim Stepanov explained that the restrictions, to be introduced in January, are not a blockade, but “a fairly strict quarantine.”

If the quarantine is not announced in January in Ukraine, a lockdown will have to be introduced in February. Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said this on December 12 on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.

According to the minister, he would not call the restrictions scheduled for January a blockade.

We have certain sectors of the economy that are being closed, in addition, at the initiative of the president, monetary compensation is assigned, ”Stepanov explained.

He previously said that epidemiological restrictions are needed in January to reduce the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 before the start of the seasonal incidence of influenza.

On December 9, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine extended national quarantine until February 28, 2021 with restrictions in the “orange” zone of epidemic danger. From January 8 at 00:00 hours on January 25 in the country there will be a “winter vacation quarantine”.
