In the capital, some clinics, such as the Alexander Hospital and others, are completely full of patients with coronavirus infection, said the head of the Ministry of Health.

Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said there were only 800 free beds left in the capital’s hospitals for the treatment of patients with coronavirus infection. The head of the Ministry of Health on Friday, October 16, said this on the air of the Inter TV channel, reports Interfax Ukraine.

“Today in Kiev 2,781 beds have been allocated for the treatment of patients with coronavirus. As of the morning, 1941 beds are occupied, that is, you can see that more than 800 beds are free, ”said Stepanov.

According to him, in Kiev, clinics like Alexander Hospital or other medical institutions that were the first to receive COVID-19 patients are completely full of coronavirus patients.

“So new patients are taken to other hospitals according to approved routes,” Stepanov said.

In general, in Kiev, the occupancy of hospital beds for coronavirus patients is 70%. The same situation is observed in the Kharkov region, a more difficult situation has developed in the Donetsk, Lugansk, Odessa regions and Odessa itself. There, according to the minister, there are few vacancies.

Stepanov also recalled that his department intends to increase the number of hospital beds in Ukraine to 52 thousand.

It was previously reported that there are not enough doctors in the Lugansk region to work with COVID-19 patients, so the authorities plan to attract interns and retired doctors.
