Health Minister Maxim Stepanov explained why coronavirus patients are denied hospitalization. The patient can be hospitalized only for clinical reasons.

Stepanov said this in a briefing.

According to him, up to 80% of patients have a mild course of the disease and do not need hospitalization. Also, if there is no need for hospitalization, it is safer to undergo treatment at home.

“First of all, any hospitalization should be done solely on the basis of indicators. This, including health safety. Any hospital has the so-called nosocomial infection. If it has no indicators of hospitalization, it is safer to receive treatment at home. Secondly Instead, a hospital is not a sanatorium. This should be done only according to the indicators and according to the diagnosis established by the doctor and according to his direction, “said Stepanov.

The minister also named the hospitalization indicators:

  • Respiratory rate of 10 or more than 30 breaths;
  • Saturation measured by pulse oximeter less than 92;
  • Impaired consciousness;
  • Patients with a medium course of the disease and with concomitant diseases.

Recall that 9,721 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Ukraine per day.

Furthermore, RBC-Ukraine wrote that more than 200 deaths and more than 10,000 COVID-19 recoveries were recorded in the country for the first time in a day.
