Minister of Health of Ukraine, Maxim Stepanov
Doctors at the regional center told the minister that they did not have access to personal protective equipment.
The head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Maxim Stepanov, without prior notice, checked the medical institutions of the city No. 1, No. 2 of Zhytomyr and the regional clinical hospital, which accept COVID-19 patients for treatment. In one of them, problems with the oxygen points were found. The minister announced it on Sunday, November 29, on his Facebook page.
The problems, according to Stepanov, were discovered at the Zhytomyr Regional Hospital, which was identified to treat COVID-19 patients on November 6.
“An agreement with the National Health Service has not yet been signed with them. At the same time, patients with coronavirus infection are already entering there, 11 people have been hospitalized,” the statement said.
The head of the Ministry of Health considers that the infection control situation in this hospital is “terrible, because it is not there.” Additionally, medical workers told Stepanov that they do not have access to personal protective equipment.
“I discovered major problems with presenting proper statistics on oxygen points. 117 were submitted, there are actually 66 of them. It turned out that the statistics include something like” free “oxygen points, but they are located in departments that are not assigned for the treatment of COVID-19 “. said the minister.
The minister added that the first two hospitals are fully supplied with oxygen, there are even supplies of concentrators.
It was previously reported that equipment checks in hospitals across Ukraine will be carried out after the death of two patients on a ventilator due to a power outage in intensive care in the Lviv region.
