As soon as the rapid tests appear in Ukraine, they will be immediately distributed to hospitals.
In addition to the PCR tests in Ukraine, in the near future, they will conduct tests using rapid tests for the COVID-19 antigen, which has just appeared in the world. This was announced at a briefing on Thursday, October 8 by Health Minister Maxim Stepanov.
He noted that as soon as rapid tests appear in Ukraine, they will be immediately distributed among hospitals to increase the total number of tests.
“Last day 57,331 tests were carried out. Of these, 34,295 studies by PCR, as well as 23,036 studies by ELISA. It is seen that we are increasing the number of tests. Yesterday there were 32 thousand, today 34 thousand by PCR. and we will continue to increase these tests, ”said the minister.
He said that over the past six months, the number of tests has increased significantly. For example, in early April, around 200 PCR tests were performed per day. The number of hospital beds has also increased, from 12,000 to 37,000 at this time.
“Now we have a lot of politicians before the elections who necessarily score points because of COVID-19. They do public relations, they talk, they fantasize, how many tests would they do, how can a million tests be done a day. Trust me, if we had at least one. opportunity just after one day to do at least 100 thousand tests, then we would do it, “- summed up Maxim Stepanov.
He also said that during the last day, 900 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized in Ukraine.
