The “Steinmeier Formula” will be included in the law on the special status of Donbass. Now it is being discussed which articles of the law will be changed.

This was stated by the representative of Ukraine in the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, parliamentarian Andriy Kostin, on the air “Right to power”.

“We agreed that the Steinmeier formula was included in the law on special status. Now they are negotiating which articles of this law should be changed for this law to work from the point of view of the law,” said Kostin.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba admitted that Ukraine can fulfill the conditions of the “Steinmeier formula” if it satisfies its interests.

At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Leonid Kravchuk said that the Kiev official did not abandon the “Steinmeier formula”, saying that it was difficult to implement in practice.

Note that this formula actually clarifies the clause of the Minsk agreements on the introduction of a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions (ORDLO).

According to the text of the formula, the corresponding law takes effect temporarily on the day of the local elections in CADLO. Permanently, the document will be valid if the OSCE special office confirms that the elections were fair and democratic according to international standards.
