For four years, there was no bilateral cooperation at the level of the presidents of Ukraine and Moldova, said the new president of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu, in an interview with “Nimetsky Khntly”, which was published on January 4, said that during her visit to Ukraine she intends to discuss a number of “specific issues” with the country’s leaders.
“We want to restore relations, because some The work was carried out at the government level, but at the presidential level there were no meetings during these four years. We have many specific questions to which we must find solutions. This is both the issue of security in the region and the issues of our paths to the European Union, the reforms that we must carry out to bring our countries closer to the EU and, of course, the issues of delimitation of borders, of the hydroelectric power station, that is, specific issues, “said the president.
On November 15, the second round of the presidential elections took place in Moldova, Sandu received 57.72% support voters, his opponent, the current president of the country Igor Dodon – 42.28%. On December 24, Sandu was sworn in and officially assumed the post of head of state.
Maya Sandu announced on December 10 during a meeting with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba that she would make her first foreign presidential visit to Ukraine. It will take place on January 12.
