Yalta, Alupka and 30 other settlements on the southern coast of Crimea, once a seaside resort, will now receive water for only six hours a day.

In the Crimea, two reservoirs have become shallow, feeding the southern coast (SCC) of the peninsula. As a result, the cities of Yalta and Alupka, as well as 30 more settlements, from Foros to Gurzuf, are switching from Monday, December 14, to hourly water supply schedules – just six hours a day, Interfax reports.

“The water will be supplied in the morning from 06:00 to 09:00 and in the afternoon from 18:00 to 21:00,” said the so-called Yalta administration.

At the same time, it is noted that changes in the schedule are possible due to emergency situations and technical adjustments of the water supply network.

The reason for the closures is a decrease in water reserves in the Zagorskoye and Schastlivskoye reservoirs.

Therefore, the water according to the schedule will soon be available in 32 settlements on the southern coast of Crimea. That’s the number of them in the municipal district, the Yalta Unified Dispatch Service (EDDS) told the agency.

Hotels on the southern coast of Crimea are preparing to work in new conditions.

“The hotel has its own reserves, we have a certain water supply, which we replenish, and the hotel always has water during the day. The only thing is that there may not be such a strong pressure, since no water will be supplied (in the city - ed.) All the time, that this will not affect the operation of our hotel, ”they told the agency at the Hotel Bristol, one of the resort’s oldest hotels.

Low water level is observed in Crimea in 2019 and 2020 and according to Rosvodresursy’s forecast, it may last into 2021.

It was previously reported that in Crimea, the alleged authorities are tightening measures to save water in the resort city of Yalta due to the collapse of the reservoirs.

Let us remember that the availability of fresh water continues to be the main problem of Crimea annexed by Russia.
