The staff of the National Center for Antarctic Research and the polar explorers of the Akademik Vernadsky station wished the Ukrainians “snow like Antarctica” on New Year’s Eve 2021.
Members of the Ukrainian expedition at the Akademik Vernadsky station wished Happy New Year 2021. The congratulations of December 31, 2020 were published by the press service of the science center.
“Dear friends, the staff of the National Antarctic Science Center and the polar explorers of the Akademik Vernadsky station sincerely congratulate you on the New Year 2021,” the message reads.
They wished for health, success and “snow like Antarctica.”
In April, 12 Ukrainian research scientists, including geologists, geophysicists, biologists, doctors and engineers, went on an expedition to Antarctica, where they replaced the previous team, who spent a whole year there.
The “Akademik Vernadsky” station was founded by a British expedition in the 1930s (then the station was called “Faraday”). In 1996, Great Britain transferred the station to Ukraine.
