Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Siyjarto reacted to Ukraine’s decision to ban the entry of two Hungarian officials due to interference in local elections. He called this decision pathetic and pointless.

Reported by Reuters.

He also called this decision “a hostile step”.

“With this, Ukraine is sending a signal … that it has renounced Hungary’s support for its Euro-Atlantic integration efforts,” Siyarto said.

Furthermore, he stated in his video message that Hungary has not yet received an official notification of the ban.

According to him, the victory of Hungarian officials in local elections means that the opinion of Hungarians on the future of Transcarpathia must be taken into account.

Let us remind you that on election day, Siyarto asked the Hungarians of Transcarpathia to support the political force “Party of Hungarians of Ukraine” in local elections.

Note that yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a protest note to the Hungarian Ambassador regarding the illegal campaign in Transcarpathia. The Foreign Ministry once again asked the Hungarian side to respect Ukraine’s legislation and not interfere in the internal affairs of the neighboring country.
