Shmyhal confirmed the preparation of a strict quarantine
Denis Shmygal emphasized that the strict quarantine remains Plan B, in case the weekend quarantine does not work.
The Cabinet is discussing the introduction of a strict quarantine in Ukraine, but it will focus on the outcome of the weekend quarantine, and therefore there is no exact date yet. This was announced by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal on Facebook on Saturday, November 21.
The effectiveness of the weekend quarantine will be evaluated in December, the prime minister said.
“We see that this result is reaching a plateau in terms of the number of cases,” Shmygal said.
The Prime Minister also confirmed that a plan to introduce stricter quarantines is underway.
“But this is plan B, if the weekend quarantine does not work. We have started a public discussion of this plan B so that the whole country understands it. We want our steps to be clear and predictable for people and companies.” Shmygal said.
In this sense, this week meetings were held with mayors, companies and churches. In addition, local authorities are conducting a survey on optimization of regulations against the epidemic.
“There are daily consultations with epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists. The situation in each region is being analyzed. We are doing all of this now in order to develop an articulation, balanced and a plan supported by everything that I want to underline once again: No there is a date for the introduction of a strict quarantine now, “he concluded. Shmygal.
Previously, the Health Ministry said when they will require a shutdown. The strict quarantine will be asked to reintroduce when 30 thousand new cases of coronavirus are detected per day.
