Ukraine expects a vaccine under the COVAX program in the first half of 2021, but would like to receive it faster.

Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, in a meeting with the World Health Organization regional director for Europe, Hans Kluge, called for speeding up the supply of the coronavirus vaccine to Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, December 16.

“Ukraine is a member of the COVAX Global Fund initiative, thanks to which we hope to receive the required amount of vaccines in the first quarter of next year. At the same time, we would be grateful for the help to obtain a certain amount of vaccines faster.” Shmyhal said.

The prime minister also thanked WHO for its help in the field of medicine.

Under the COVAX program, Ukraine plans to receive 8 million doses of vaccines. Deliveries are expected in the first half of 2021.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health expects COVID vaccines to be available before the end of February.
