Prime Minister believes 15 thousand UAH is enough for Ukrainians to live
In this matter, much depends on the business environment, on the conditions in which the economy will be, said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
For a normal standard of living in Ukraine, it is enough to receive an average of 15 thousand hryvnia and pensions – about five thousand. On Friday, September 4, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal, spoke about this in an interview with the TV channel Ukraine 24.
“We are calculating a gradual increase in the average salary. That is, if now it is about 11 thousand hryvnia, next year it could be 13 thousand hryvnia, and accordingly, in 2022 – up to 15 thousand hryvnia,” said the first Minister.
He also noted that the Cabinet of Ministers will allocate 159 billion UAH in the budget for 2021 to increase salaries and pensions in the hope that some of these funds will return to the budget as taxes.
“Don’t take this as a promise, take it as the parameters we strive for,” Shmygal said on air, answering the question of how much money will be enough for Ukrainians to live.
According to him, in this matter, a lot depends on the business environment, on the conditions in which the economy is. But with the macro forecast made by the Ministry of Economy, with the projected GDP growth, with optimistic business expectations, it is quite possible to achieve the specified goal of raising the average salary, said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said that the Ukrainian economy began to recover and in June the average real wage exceeded the pre-crisis level and amounted to 11.6 thousand hryvnia.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law to increase the minimum wage to 5000 UAH from September 1, 2020.
