Sheremet case: the organizer of the murder has not been identified

The prosecutor admitted that the investigation failed to establish the organizers of the murder of Pavel Sheremet, and all the defendants in the execution did not admit their guilt.

The investigation failed to establish the organizers of the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet. This is stated in the indictment, which on Monday, August 28, was read by the prosecutor in the Shevchenko district court of the capital, reports Ukrinform.

“In July 2016, but no later than July 15, 2016, people who were not identified by the investigation in the territory of Kiev persuaded an organized group, which included Antonenko, Kuzmenko, Dugar and other people not established in this time by the court, to commit a crime. ” – said the prosecutor.

According to the investigation, the organizers provided the executors with information about Sheremet’s place of residence and the vehicle he uses.

In turn, the defendants, Andrei Antonenko, Yulia Kuzmenko and Yana Dugar, said that they did not admit their guilt. Kuzmenko also said that he did not understand the motive stated in the indictment.

According to the prosecution, during the preparation of the crime, the suspects used special terminology during a telephone conversation, and Dugar also played the role of observer: he studied Sheremet’s daily routine, while Kuzmenko and Antonenko were the executors.

Andrey Antonenko is charged with several articles: murder and possession of explosive devices.

The court subsequently proceeded to consider Antonenko’s defense request to change the preventive measure in the form of detention. The court refused to allow Antonenko to sit with his lawyers. Kuzmenko and Dugar were sitting next to the lawyer.

We recall that on August 25 it became known that the case of Sheremet’s murder will be considered by a jury. This decision was made by the Kiev Shevchenko District Court at its meeting.

Previously, the court appointed new preventive measures for the suspects in Sheremet’s murder in connection with the end of the pre-trial investigation.
