According to the decision of the Kiev City Council, the second leg between Donetsk Shakhtar and Roman Roma in the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League was closed to the public due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the capital of our country.

The day after this decision, on March 18, the mayor of Kiev, Vitaliy Klitschko, published an appeal to the residents and guests of the city, in which he officially announced the decision of the officials to introduce a new stage of confinement, which will last, presumably, from March 20 to April 9, 2021.

Against the background of these events, the reaction of the leaders of Donetsk Shakhtar, whose club was left without the support of the fans in an important match of the European Cup season, was immediate. Pitmen CEO Sergei Palkin posted an appeal to the Kiev authorities on his Facebook page, in which he asked several uncomfortable questions about them.

“Dear friends,

As you all know, the Kiev technogenic commission has banned the Shakhtar – Rome match with spectators.

This decision sparked a wave of outrage among the FC Shakhtar fans. In this regard, I would like to ask the city administration a few questions:

– Why was the decision to hold the match without spectators actually made one day before the start of the match, when already thousands of fans were on trains and buses and moving in the direction of Kiev?

– What prevented it from being made public 2-3 days before the game, or last week? After all, making analogies, the situation resembles a visit to a restaurant, when you came, made an order, and after 15 minutes, you are told to leave the premises, because the restaurant is closed due to the decision of the Kiev technogenic commission. ;

– Why, when making their statements, were the referees guided by the figure of 35 thousand, although the real figure, the number of fans that would be present at the match does not exceed 14 thousand?

– Why are only football matches banned, while indoor sports complexes, cafes, restaurants and shopping centers continue to function normally? The risk of infection in the open area of the stadium is much lower than in the aforementioned establishments.

– What is the logic to ban a football match in an open stadium with the maximum security measures, given that thousands of fans without masks will go to watch the game in cafes and bars? And when the restaurants fill with fans tonight, who have come from different cities in the country, the second Bukovel will really arrive. Did the technogenic commission consider such a scenario?

FC Shakhtar and the club’s fans all over Ukraine await the responses of the responsible persons who made such a decision. However, there is a firm belief that the questions will remain unanswered.

For my part, I want to point out that the fans of the club will receive a full refund of the funds spent on the purchase of tickets.

The food purchased for the organization of the party will be transferred to orphanages and hospitals.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones, stay healthy! “, – says the publication of Sergei Palkin.

The Shakhtar – Roma match will take place on March 18, starting at 7:55 p.m. in Kiev. Football.ua will host a text broadcast of this fight.
