This was announced to the BBC by the British drug regulator.

In total, 30 cases of thrombosis were recorded in the UK in patients vaccinated with the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine before March 24.

According to the latest data from the regulator, there have been 22 reports of thrombosis in the brain, called venous sinus thrombosis, accompanied by low platelet counts, and eight reports of other clotting problems with low platelet counts. Of these 30 cases, 7 people died.

However, these cases remain rare. The regulator points out that until March 24, 18.1 million doses of the vaccine were administered.

It is not yet clear whether the development of blood clots is just a coincidence or really a side effect of the vaccine.

The British regulator has not identified a link between blood clots and the vaccine and says it considers the benefits of vaccination higher than the potential risks.

Concerns about vaccine safety led several countries to restrict the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in February.

The AstraZeneca vaccine has been declared safe and effective by the European Medicines Agency. After that, France, Italy and Germany reinstated vaccination with the drug.

WHO also recommended continuing vaccination with AstraZeneca.
