After the Hungarians entered the elite division of the Nations League in the fall and reached the final part of the Euro, it was necessary to tune them in the most serious way. But the Poles decided otherwise.
It seems that “Kadra” just wasn’t ready for the proposed level of stiffness and intensity. The Hungarians from the beginning gave up the ball and played strictly on counterattacks, but at the same time they ran forward so fast that it was not always possible to stop them. The first goal already happened at the beginning: Fiola went through the entire defense of the Poles with a magnificent pass (a big salute to Bednarek) and took Rolland Sallay to the goal, who clearly outplayed Szczesny.
Later, the Hungarians had other promising attacks, to which the Poles could not respond with anything. His midfielders were losing the fight and only sterile possession of the ball; the flanks were completely lost; Lewandowski had to retire to midfield to participate at least a little in the game.
All of this at the start of the second half logically ended with the Hungarians’ second goal – Attila Schallay was the first to get his bearings after a little commotion in the penalty area.
Everything seemed to be heading towards a tactical victory for the Magyars, but then the heat suddenly began. After three substitutions by Paulo Souza, the Poles recovered two goals in a minute and a half. Yuzhvyak, who came off the bench, first fired a good shot from the side and then made a heads up to get out himself.
Such a twist blew up the game and, in the end, the teams returned to exchange goals. Including, scored Robert Lewandowski, whom the Hungarians allowed not only to receive, but also to earn some money from twelve meters from goal. A serious mistake, of course, but the Poles were no less wrong, so a draw seems to be a fair result. It is true that no one liked it, well, maybe only the British, who have already earned first place in the group.
