Protests continue in Belarus after Lukashenka inauguration

Roads in the city are partially blocked. Water cannons are being poured on people and cars, protesters have been driven off the Estela and tear gas is being used against them.

The security forces used tear gas and water cannons against the Belarusian protesters. This was reported by TUT.by on Wednesday September 23rd.

In particular, the protesters were dispersed by gas near the Gallery shopping center in Minsk.

At the same time, in Nemiga in Minsk, protesters formed a chain and blocked traffic on the street, shouting “As long as we are united, we are invincible.”

In turn, the Viasna human rights center reports that more than 100 people have already been detained in unauthorized protests.

Let us remind you that previously Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia did not recognize Lukashenko as president. The representatives of the countries reacted to the inauguration of Alexander Lukashenko, calling it illegitimate and urging to find another way out of the political crisis in the country.

So Germany did not recognize Lukashenka’s legitimacy. Lukashenka cannot count on democratic legitimacy after the secret inauguration ceremony, according to Berlin.

Furthermore, Canada and Poland did not recognize Lukashenko’s legitimacy. In Canada, they called the elections in Belarus rigged, and in Poland they say that Lukashenka was elected in an undemocratic vote.
