Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said he was ready to get vaccinated against coronavirus (COVID-19) with the Russian vaccine only if it is registered in the EU.

As he said in an interview with the German Welt am Sonntag, in the case of vaccines, it is only about efficiency, safety and rapid availability, and not geopolitical battles.

According to Kurz, in the case of the EU registration of the Russian “Sputnik V”, as well as the Chinese vaccine, Austria “will definitely try to provide the production capacity of suitable domestic companies for its production.”

“As is the case with manufacturers from other countries,” he added.

The Austrian chancellor stressed that it is about getting a safer vaccine as soon as possible, regardless of who developed it.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Shimonyte called the Russian vaccine Vladimir Putin a “hybrid weapon.”

Previously, the Hungarian Medical Chamber refused to recommend a Russian and Chinese-made coronavirus vaccine, as its official characteristics were not released.
