Cyberpolice has exposed a network of scammers who, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, tricked some 1,000 people worth 3.5 million hryvnias. This was reported on the website of the National Police on Saturday, May 2.
It is observed that a total of 40 scammers acted. They allegedly exchanged personal protective equipment and medical supplies.
In total, 56 authorized searches were carried out in Vinnitsa, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopol and Chernihiv … According to the results, material evidence was seized: bank cards, mobile phones , cash “in the message
It also indicates that the final amount of damage is being established. A criminal case was opened under the fraud article (Part 3, Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Scammers were previously reported to have sold non-existent masks for millions of hryvnias. Deceived buyers included medical facilities, commercial structures, and citizens from all regions of Ukraine.
The SBU also prevented the theft of more than 10 million hryvnias during the purchase of protective masks for the Donetsk regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia.
