On February 4, after the imposition of sanctions on the channels associated with the People’s Deputy of the Opposition Platform – For Life Viktor Medvedchuk, channels, he granted an interview to the Russian propagandists of the RT channel. Now the SBU is examining this interview for irregularities.
The Security Service of Ukraine is studying the violations of the interview of the People’s Deputy of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk to the Russian propagandists of the RT channel. This is stated in the response of the SBU press service to LIGA.net’s request.
“The circumstances that he has indicated are being studied for violations attributed to the jurisdiction of the investigative security agencies,” the ministry’s press service responded.
The SBU also said they would react if they found reasons for this.
The interview in question appeared on the YouTube channel RT Russia on February 4, shortly after the imposition of sanctions against the television channels associated with Medvedchuk. Presumably, it was registered in Ukraine. This is evidenced, in particular, by the fact that there is a small Ukrainian flag behind Medvedchuk.
NSDC February 2 imposed sanctions on People’s Deputy of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” Taras Kozak and TV channels that belong to you… On the same day, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr, put the decision into effect. Zelensky (previously said that Kozak and Medvedchuk are “a story” in the context of ownership of Ukrainian TV channels).
The sanctions provide for the revocation of the licenses of “112 Ukraine”, ZIK and NewsOne, they are ordered to stop broadcasting, all legal activities of media companies are terminated for a period of five years. The providers immediately began blocking TV channels, made a joint statement on “political retaliation” and vowed to fight “for their right to broadcast for Ukrainians.”
The adviser to the head of the President’s Office, Mikhail Podolyak, noted that these channels “are used very actively and often openly as instruments of foreign propaganda in Ukraine.” PZelensky’s press secretary Yulia Mendel said thatblocking “112 Ukraine”, ZIK and NewsOne has nothing to do with an attack on freedom of expression. According to her, there is evidence that these channels are financed from Russia.
NSDC February 19 decided to impose sanctions against 19 legal entities and eight persons: five citizens of Russia (according to media reports, this family asset managers Medvedchuk) and three Ukrainians: Medvedchuk himself, his wife Oksana Marchenko and Natalia Lavrenyuk, whom the media called wife in fact Kozak. We decided to apply restrictions to these people based on an investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine in an article about terrorist financing.
The NSDC ordered the return of the Samara – Western Direction pipeline to state ownership. The pipeline is operated by the Prykarpatzakhidtrans company. NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said it was not privatized, but “in an incomprehensible way” ended up in the private property of “two foreign registered owners, but affiliated with two citizens of Ukraine.”
“Economic truth”, LEAGUE.net and former people’s deputy Sergei Leshchenko wrote about the connection between Prykarpatzahidtrans and Medvedchuk… According to former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, in 2015, by court decision, the pipeline passed into the hands of people who have a personal relationship with Medvedchuk. Medvedchuk himself denies any participation in the pipeline.
The PLO considers the restrictions “repression and destruction of Ukrainian democracy.”
Medvedchuk called the sanctions imposed against her illegal, and Marchenko said that after she was placed on the sanctions list, she joined the HLE party and would go into politics.
