Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine arrived on December 28 with a check to the Kharkiv City Council.

According to the source, the SBU is “holding events” in the main building of the City Hall at number 7, Plaza de la Constitución, starting at 8:00 am.
It is not a search, said the interlocutor of the journalists, but a verification of the accounting, storage and use of documents, computers and digital media that contain information with limited access.
Earlier, Kharkov City Council Deputy of the Servant of the People party, Alina Mustafayeva, accused City Clerk Igor Terekhov and First Deputy Mayor Alexander Novak of attempting to seize power, hiding behind the name Gennady Kernes.
He sent the corresponding attached appeal to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Alexander Filchakov. According to the deputy, on December 9, during the first session of the City Council, Terekhov and Novak allegedly falsified Kernes’s submission on the election of the City Secretary.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, the duties of the mayor of Kharkiv instead of Kernes, who died from complications of the coronavirus disease, will be temporarily carried out by the town clerk Terekhov. It was his candidacy that was proposed by the former mayor of Kharkiv when he was being treated at the German clinic “Charite”.
According to the law, the city clerk must also fulfill the mayor’s duties in his absence.
