During the searches, intelligence officers seized 833 kg of amber and products worth nearly 4 million hryvnia.

Ukraine’s security service has blocked a large-scale channel for smuggling processed amber to one of the Asian countries. This was reported by the SBU press service.

Special services operatives established that the illegal business was organized by a citizen of one of the states of Transcaucasia together with the Ukrainians.

“Traders were buying amber illegally mined from the northern regions of the Rivne region. The attackers carried out the processing of the ‘sun stone’ at the production facilities of a private company in the Rivne region,” it says the message.

Jewelry with fake shipping documents was found to be exported from the country through international checkpoints at Boryspil and Lviv airports.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized 833 kg of amber, including 169 kg of finished products, 401 kg of processed stone, 263 kg of raw stone worth almost 4 million hryvnia.

Likewise, equipment was found to process amber, documents, computer equipment and other materials that confirm illicit activities.

As a reminder, SBU officers blocked amber mining on the territory of one of the state forestry companies in the Rivne region and detained a group of black excavators.

It was also reported that in the Rivne region, law enforcement officers found an underground workshop to process amber and seized almost 60 kilograms of “solar” stone. The production was organized by a Turkish citizen.
