The elected president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, is in favor of the withdrawal of the operative group of Russian troops from the unknown Transnistria. The Russian military should go along with the munitions they guard in the region.

She announced this at a large press conference.

“When we talk about the presence of Russian troops in the PMR (the so-called Republic of Moldavia Pridnestroviana, – ed.) – this is an operational group of the Russian Federation, according to which there is no agreement on their presence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, and the position of Moldova will continue to be based on the withdrawal of these groups, “said Sandu.

According to her, the demand to withdraw the troops is not just a statement.

“This is a necessity. I will work with Russia for as long as necessary to resolve the issue of arms exports and troop withdrawals,” Sandu added.

Recall that Sandu regularly makes statements about the inadmissibility of the deployment of Russian troops in Transnistria.

“This working group must withdraw, the ammunition must be withdrawn. It is very important to restore the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova,” he said.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry perceives his statements as “undermining efforts for a peaceful settlement.”
