In the negotiations on the Transnistria deal, the “soft approach” did not pay off. This did not allow the conflict to be resolved even for 28 years.
Moldova’s elected president, Maia Sandu, spoke about this in an interview with European Pravda.
He suggested that Ukraine take into account Moldova’s experience in Transnistria.
“We recognized that Transnistria is part of the negotiation format, we gave local companies the same trade regime that our producers have, in particular the right to freely export to the EU under the Association Agreement. We signed more than 300 documents on conflict resolution and the like “. , – she said.
It should be noted that Moldova accepted a dialogue with the unrecognized “government” in Tiraspol, and Russia agreed to consider it a “mediator”, but negotiations between them are still ongoing.
“But despite all these steps, so far we have not gotten anywhere. And this experience of ours can be useful to take into account in the actions on Donbass,” Sandu explained.
We will remember, Maia Sandu said in a comment to RBK-Ukraine that she will soon meet with the President of Ukraine.
In addition, after the announcement of the election results, Sandu said that Moldova will establish friendly relations with Ukraine.
