In response to the sanctions against Belarus, the Minsk official approved asymmetric measures against Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Previously, the Baltic states announced their list of sanctions.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei Vladimir Makei stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“Yesterday we agreed on proposals, and they have already been approved, on the imposition of asymmetric sanctions against the respective people of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia,” Makei said without giving details.

He also claimed that some countries in the former Soviet Union allegedly used the presidential elections in Belarus to try to destabilize the country.

Please note that asymmetric penalties are disproportionate measures in response to any restrictions imposed.

Let us remind you that previously Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia imposed sanctions against the current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. In addition to him, nearly three dozen other officials fell under the restrictions. All of them were prohibited from entering the territory of the Baltic States.

It was also reported that the United States could also impose sanctions against those involved in the manipulation of the elections in Belarus and the violent dispersal of peaceful protests, and the European Union will soon determine the sanctions.
