South Korean telecoms operator SK Telecom has unveiled the world’s first 5G Galaxy A Quantum smartphone with an integrated blockchain-based ID authentication service launched by Samsung.

The Galaxy A Quantum priced at 649,000 Korean Won (~ $ 530) uses the SKT IDQ S2Q000 QRNG chipset with a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG), developed by SK Telecom ID Quantique and Samsung.

Biometric protection QRNG-based blockchain authentication is integrated into the SK Pay payment system and is used when users make everyday physical purchases. The blockchain is also used in T ID login and initial services and helps prevent forgery and theft of information stored on the phone.
The new smartphone can be pre-ordered from May 15, official sales will start from May 22 in Korea.
