Former Georgian President, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Reform Council of Ukraine, Mikhail Saakashvili, wanted “to help the Georgian people out of the crisis” and agreed to become the country’s prime minister.
Former Georgian President, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Reform Council of Ukraine, Mikhail Saakashvili, agreed to assume the post of Prime Minister of Georgia if the opposition wins the parliamentary elections on October 31. He wrote about this on Facebook on September 7.
“Now the parliamentary elections are not being held in Ukraine, but in Georgia. Naturally, I want to help my Georgian people to come out of the crisis. Therefore, I announced that I agree to be transitional prime minister not for a full term, but for a period of stabilization, until it will be possible to overcome the deep crisis that Georgia is going through now, ”he wrote.

Saakashvili noted that he continues to serve as the head of the Executive Committee of the National Reform Council in Ukraine.
“We are preparing for the next meeting of the National Council, we have a very important agenda. Saakashvili served as Georgia’s president for two consecutive terms in 2004-2013. He left the country shortly after leaving the presidency. Several criminal cases were opened against him in Georgia and he is suspected of abuse of power and persecution of political opponents. Saakashvili himself said that the criminal cases were politically motivated.
In 2015-2016, Saakashvili headed the Odessa Regional State Administration. He received Ukrainian citizenship in May 2015 and July 2017 I lost it… In May 2019, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky returned to Ukrainian citizenship from Saakashvili.
Since June 2020, Saakashvili has been in office Head of the Executive Committee of Reforms of Ukraine.
