Only the Russian vessel Academician Chersky can complete Nord Stream-2
The Akademik Chersky ship was supposed to begin work on the completion of the underwater gas pipeline on December 5.
The Russian pipelaying vessel Akademik Chersky “moved away from the proposed point to continue the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and turned to the northeast,” TASS reported on Tuesday, December 8, citing data from the vessel tracking portal MarineTraffic.
It is specified that the ship’s destination is Kaliningrad.
In turn, Interfax reports that theoretically Academician Chersky’s goal could be the end point of another road line to carry out work or inspections on it. This point is approximately along the course of the ship.
Last week it was reported that Academician Chersky could begin work on the completion of Nord Stream 2 starting on December 5. That same day, this ship arrived at the construction site of the gas pipeline.
In addition, an anchor pipelayer bearing the Russian flag Fortuna left the port of Wismar in Germany last Saturday. It was supposed to carry out work from December 5 to December 31 in the waters of the Baltic Sea.
