Tonight, a Russian helicopter crashed near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.

The incident took place around 7:00 p.m. local time (around 5:00 p.m. Kiev time).

The helicopter crashed near the village of Yeraskh in the Ararat region of Armenia. After the fall, it caught fire, two are known to have died and one was injured.

The press service noted that the fire had already been extinguished.

The Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation said the crashed Russian helicopter was shot down. This is expressed in the department’s message, which is available to RBC.

They noted that at that time the helicopter was escorting a convoy from the 102nd Russian military base.

“As a result of the missile’s impact, the helicopter lost control and fell in a mountainous area on the territory of Armenia,” the message says.

They confirmed information about two dead and one wounded who received moderate injuries.

The command of the Russian military base, which is stationed in Gyumri, is finding out who fired at the Russian helicopter.
