After the hospitalization of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in an Omsk hospital, doctors suspected from the beginning that the politician had been poisoned, Meduza reports, citing sources.

Interlocutors of the publication, who participated in the consultations of doctors in Omsk, said that Navalny was observed «a clear picture of organophosphate poisoning “.

They noted that, at the same time, the signs were atypical for such poisoning.

In particular, among the characteristic symptoms, Navalny had narrow pupils, increased salivation, sweating, muscular hypertonicity, but at the same time he did not have bronchospasm and bronchorrhea of the lungs, and in intensive care he did not have vomiting or diarrhea. In addition, doctors recorded ketoacidosis, which is atypical of FOS poisoning, a condition in which ketone bodies accumulate in the body. This is usually due to insulin deficiency in diabetes.

In turn, the toxicological analysis data found no toxic substances in Navalny’s body. According to one of Meduza’s interlocutors, the council participants were not shown their results, just standard biochemistry.

Since the signs of FOS were obvious, Navalny was injected with atropine, an antidote to organophosphate poisoning, while he was still in the ambulance. This could alleviate problems with the lungs and gastrointestinal tract, believes the source. In the intensive care unit, the course of atropine was continued, but after the introduction of several doses, they were interrupted: Navalny developed a severe tachycardia.

According to doctors, the not quite typical image of intoxication can be explained by the fact that Alexei Navalny «poisoned with a two-component mixture. “

Recall, on August 20 it became known about the poisoning of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

The politician’s colleagues from the beginning claimed that he was poisoned. At the same time, Russian doctors found no traces of the poison on the body.

Navalny was evacuated to Germany for treatment.

On September 2, the German government officially announced that Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a substance from the Novichok group.
