The Russian government realizes that it will have to pay a heavy price for the aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea and Donbas.

“Most importantly, Russia understands that there is a very high price that it will have to pay for continuing this conflict. And one component of that high price is sanctions. This is a clear and strong signal,” Simmons said.
He stressed that the Russian Federation is obliged to abide by the terms of the “Minsk Accords”, but it does not.
