The deployment of Russian troops in the unrecognized Transnistria violates the territorial integrity of Moldova. This confirms that Russia often violates international law.
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced it at a press conference after the video meeting of the foreign ministers of NATO member states.
According to him, the West saw how Russia introduced its troops into neighboring countries.
“… how Crimea is illegally annexed, how it continues to destabilize eastern Ukraine, how Russian troops are in parts of Georgia, Moldova and Transnistria. This is a violation of the territorial integrity of Moldova, and this is another example of how Russia very often does not respect international law. ” Stoltenberg said.
Let us remind you that yesterday the president-elect of Moldova, Maia Sandu, demanded the removal of Russian peacekeepers from Transnistria. At the same time, he ruled out the possibility of a Karabakh scenario to resolve this conflict.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has already said that Sandu’s statements threaten to destabilize the region, and the withdrawal of Russian troops and peacekeepers was not discussed at the highest level.
