Armenia has Su-30SM fighters, but no missiles for them

Russia does not sell air-to-air missiles with a range of 130 kilometers to other countries, said the former head of the military control service of the Armenian Defense Ministry.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan admitted that Armenia bought Su-30SM fighters without missiles from Russia. He stated this in a meeting with residents of the Aragatsotn region, whose video he posted on Facebook.

“They tell us: why did you buy the plane? Yes, we bought the plane, they delivered it in May, and yes, we did not have time to buy the missiles before the war,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister entrusted the responsibility for this to the former Armenian authorities.

“Would you buy planes so we can buy missiles? Why didn’t the 26-year-old state have fighter jets?” The prime minister asked.

The fact that the Su-30SM bought from Russia is not equipped with ammunition, former head of the military control service of the Defense Ministry Movses Hakobyan previously said, writes RIA Novosti. According to him, Russia does not sell air-to-air missiles with a range of 130 kilometers to other countries. The Armenian authorities did not confirm this statement.

Let us remember that after the defeat in the Nagorno-Karabakh war, the political crisis continues in Armenia. Another exacerbation occurred in late February due to Pashinyan’s words about the Russian Iskander missile system, after which he had to declare disinformation.
