Ukraine condemns Russia’s illegal organization and the conduct of so-called “local elections” in occupied Crimea on September 13. All those who participate in the preparation and realization of the “elections” in the peninsula will be held accountable.
This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The department noted that the pseudo-elections in occupied Crimea will not be considered legitimate and their results will have no legal consequences.
“We consider such actions of the Kremlin to be a continuation of serious violations by the Russian Federation of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” emphasizes the Foreign Ministry.
Furthermore, Ukraine calls on the world community to condemn these illegal actions by Russia and declare non-recognition of the results of the “elections” in occupied Crimea.
The Foreign Ministry is also calling for increased pressure on Russia, including by expanding sanctions.
Note that today in Russia there is only one voting day in the elections of different levels. Russia is holding these “elections” in the occupied territories of Crimea and Sevastopol.
The Ukrainian authorities condemn the illegal actions of the Russian Federation and do not recognize the “elections” in Crimea.
