From the beginning of 2021, Russian troops began firing at the positions of the Ukrainian army in Donbas much more frequently. At the same time, the ceasefire officially continues. Due to the impossibility of carrying out reconnaissance work in the occupied territories, the sniper groups of the “L / DPR” also intensified. In February alone, three Ukrainian defenders were shot dead.
What is really happening in Donbass and whether the terrorists will try to break the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, volunteer and former military intelligence officer Andriy Rymaruk told OBOZREVATEL in a lightning interview. Below is his direct speech.
Invisible enemy sniper positions.
As of today (the conversation took place on Tuesday, February 23 – Ed.) During February 129 attacks were recorded, three Ukrainian soldiers killed by snipers. There were quite a few injuries due to sniper attacks in January. Why it happened?
This is a direct consequence of the call. ceasefire with quite harsh measures to curb the intelligence activities of the Ukrainian army. We cannot conduct active reconnaissance and observe the enemy using drones. This allowed the terrorists to strengthen and equip positions invisible to us.from where the snipers opened fire.
“L / DNR” activates artillery and mortars
Over the past two years, the statistics in Donbass have been deteriorating. In the future, the militants will activate artillery and mortars. Attacks are already being carried out in different areas once or twice a day with 120 and 182 mortars.
Little by little, the militants begin to use cannon artillery. During the past week, we have already had two such cases: near Zaitsevo and Novgorodsky. Artillery and mortars will be activated weekly. This is facilitated by weather conditions, and when the ground dries up, the enemy will be able to move around in self-propelled vehicles and caterpillar without leaving visible traces. Now the heavy weapon traces are quite easy to see and know where the equipment came from, from what point it worked and where it was hidden.
Russia brings ammunition and cadets to Donbass
There is no doubt that the heavy artillery will start working from the terrorists, because the negotiations with Russia are frozen, the Trilateral Contact Group does not work, and the meetings in the “Normandy format” have led nowhere.
Another indicator that indicates recovery is active supplies of ammunition from Russia to the occupied territory of Donbass, arrival of new units, strengthening of the second and third lines of defense… We see this both in international OSCE reports and in our intelligence reports. There is information about the arrival of cadets from Russia and, since 2016, we know how cadets from St. Petersburg and Moscow “pass the exams” in eastern Ukraine.
Terrorists will intensify the fire
Such a resurgence of pro-Russian mercenaries indicates that We need to prepare not only to intensify hostilities, but to increase their activity in various areas.… It is unavoidable. You need to be prepared for this mentally, physically and technically. Whoever is best equipped wins. The military is constantly on the lookout for a weak point in the enemy and inflicts a punctual blow. Our army had such an experience when, near Gorlovka, seven terrorists were killed in one blow in a matter of minutes.
At the same time, the enemy was looking for weak points in our country. The last day was quite tragic: three injured and two dead. Unfortunately, we will observe such statistics until April-May. And then, as the history of the negotiations in recent years shows, they will try again to sit at a round table, make some decisions, introduce the 100th ceasefire regime. But all this again will lead nowhere.
More bombings in early summer
In late May and early June, we will have active artillery firefights between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian occupation forces. This trend has been traced for many years.
Therefore, it is necessary to act proactively, equip the APU with technical and high-precision devices, from thermal imaging cameras to devices, which will make enemy actions impossible.
