According to the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the trilateral contact group to resolve the situation in Donbass, Leonid Kravchuk, at the next TCG meeting he will propose to postpone the Ukrainian and Russian roadmaps “until better times” and focus on the implementation of the decisions. agreed in the Normandy format.

If Russia refuses to comply with the decisions made by the leaders of the Normandy Four, the pressure on it must be increased. This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian delegation at the trilateral contact group talks to resolve the situation in Donbass, the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, which came out on December 9.

According to Kravchuk, at the next TCG meeting, he will propose to postpone the roadmaps of Ukraine and Russia “until better times”, and for now to focus on the implementation of the agreed decisions in the Normandy format, in particular, in the preparations for elections, for which it is necessary to carry out demilitarization, withdraw Russian troops from ORDLO, and more. If the RF refuses, Kravchuk proposes to switch to pressure on the Kremlin.

“There must be pressure on Russia, it does not understand anything else, it has never considered the process of political and diplomatic negotiation possible,” Kravchuk said.

He noted that he may propose the introduction of new sanctions against the Russian Federation in the form of disconnection from the SWIFT international payment system, but there may be other measures.

“It must be said officially: we have done everything, we have exhausted all possibilities and we see a dead end. But this does not mean that we will stop the Minsk format tomorrow. We will continue working on it, we will make all the effort, but when we see that already we have gone in the last steps, there will be “plan B”, – said Kravchuk.

In 2014, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, Russia launched an armed aggression in eastern Ukraine. The fighting is between the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the one hand, and the Russian army and the Russian-backed militants who control parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, on the other. The Russian Federation does not officially recognize its invasion of Ukraine, despite the facts and evidence presented by Ukraine.

Negotiations on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass are taking place in the trilateral contact group in Minsk (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE), as well as in the Normandy format, with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia.
