Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov evaluated the bill of the Moldovan parliament, according to which the status of the Russian language will change. RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, Russia would welcome the return to the Russian language of the state of inter-ethnic communication in the republic. “In one way or another, Russian is spoken in the space of the former Soviet Union, it is a natural necessity: the use of the Russian language by the population of the countries of the former Soviet Union,” said Peskov.
Earlier it was reported that the Moldovan parliament adopted a bill on the status of the Russian language at the first reading. The draft states that Russian is recognized as the language of inter-ethnic communication in Moldova. Together with the adopted amendments to the audiovisual media services code, it creates an opportunity for Russian television channels and radio stations to operate in the country without restrictions. The project on the state of the Russian language was started by the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova, which lost the presidential elections, Igor Dodon.
