What is happening recently around the NBU is unlikely to strengthen the image of the National Bank as an independent regulator in the eyes of the IMF.

The first deputy director of the NBU board, Yekaterina Rozhkova, and the deputy director of the NBU, Dmitry Sologub, were reprimanded with vague office words.

Its essence can be briefly described as a disagreement with the party line.

Vitaly Shapran, a member of the NBU Supervisory Board, presented a warning order. At the same time, he confirmed that the reprimand is educational in nature and generally in the 90s for such behavior. (like Rozhkova and Sologub) would have been found in the entrance of his house, a clear allusion to the former head of the NBU Vadim Hetman, who died in the elevator of his house.

Well, first of all, the reprimand and a hint of the possibility of shooting the heads of the NBU in the head for pursuing an independent policy is unlikely to strengthen the image of the NBU as an independent regulator in the eyes of the IMF. And consequently, it is unlikely to increase the chances of continued cooperation.

That is, if the IMF refrains from continuing cooperation and financial investors immediately drop Ukrainian securities and suddenly the hryvnia falls as a result, Pan Shapran should receive some of the applause as well.

Second, I am surprised that there are no statements condemning Shapran, not from the Office of the President or from other representatives of the executive branch.

I mean, reminders of opinion expert killings are becoming the new normal.

I agree, in this context, a reprimand, even with imprecise wording, becomes the height of tolerance and civilization.

As it were, he broadened the semantic context.
