Clubs Fnl, the second tier of Russian football, by majority vote voted for the early end of the season. This decision must finally be approved by the RFU Executive Committee.
This means that two FNL teams will advance to the main division: Rotor of Volgograd (56 points) under the supervision of a Belarusian coach Alexander Khatskevichas well as Khimki near Moscow (of course, if the teams approve the license).
Three teams opposed the termination: Chertanovo, Torpedo and Neftekhimik. All three had direct access possibilities to RPL and full games. Chertanovtsy scored as many points as Khimki ranked second (54), one fewer among automakers (53), Nizhnekamsk was fifth (48).
Most likely, the season will not be played at RPL, the main Russian division. Assistant coach Anatoly Tymoshchuk and defender Yaroslav Rakitsky are likely to become Russian champions with Zenit St. Petersburg. Zenit and Lokomotiv will enter the group stage of the Champions League, and Krasnodar will qualify. In the Europa League “Rostov”, CSKA and Dynamo will play.
