Deputy Prime Minister for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Aleksey Reznikov said that “Plan B” to resolve the situation in Donbass is a way of speaking that does not provide for “Plan C” or “Plan D”.
As he said in an interview with TSN, certain agreements were reached in the “Normandy format” at the Paris summit, and then it became clear that the Russian Federation did not plan or was in no rush to fulfill them.
“But we remained optimistic and we moved in the attempts to do this: we met, we discussed, we discussed … Today we understand that not all the agreements of the Paris summit have been implemented, although we have addressed them,” he said.
According to Reznikov, until such time as Ukraine has the possibility of a political and diplomatic path, it must be followed in order to save the lives of all Ukrainians.
“A” plan B “is a way of speaking. When everything we do is no longer possible, we must look for other options. And we are looking for them,” explained the deputy prime minister.
When asked if peacekeeping missions are included in “plan B”, he replied that peacekeeping personnel is one of the solutions, including the basic model of the Minsk accords.
“International experience says that there must be someone that both parties trust. If we don’t trust the Russians, the Russians don’t trust us, respectively, it is possible to introduce some kind of peacekeeping mission that has a certain mandate. It is quite a probable story. Perhaps a mission? This is the mandate of the UN Security Council, or the OSCE … This is a question, again, of negotiations and agreements, “Reznikov emphasized.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the head of the Ukrainian delegation of the Trilateral Contact Group, Leonid Kravchuk, called “plan B” for the Donbass the disconnection of Russia from international payment systems.
