Reznikov spoke about the problem of the Minsk agreements.

Ukraine needs to seek new alliances, as well as lower expectations about the talks in Minsk, the minister said.

Ukraine needs “new alliances” to resolve the situation in Donbass. This was stated by the Minister for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Alexei Reznikov, in an interview with Zerkal Nedelya on Monday, October 19.

In particular, Reznikov responded to a journalist’s question about alternatives to “non-labor Minsk”.

“If the Minsk agreements no longer work, then let’s sign others, for example Stockholm. Why not? Sweden will chair the OSCE from January 1. This is a matter of political will of the leaders of European countries, and not just from Europeans, “Reznikov said.

He cited Nagorno-Karabakh as an example, where there were also agreements that were ineffective.

“Look at the example of Karabakh. The problem is 30 years old and today it has flared up again. This suggests that we should not delay, we have to find other solutions, sit together and watch. If we could deal with ourselves, we would. But, unfortunately, we cannot manage on our own, this is true. Therefore, new and strengthened alliances are needed, “Reznikov added.

Furthermore, according to him, the negotiations in the Minsk format will not lead to the end of the war in Donbas, and in Ukraine, the expectations of the negotiations in Minsk have always been overestimated.

“Everyone is waiting for a miracle. But I want to repeat: there is no need to wait for a miracle from Minsk. It is not a platform where peace can be achieved. For some reason, our expectations from these consultations are overestimated. But this is one banal logistics platform, a place where consultations are taking place aimed at accomplishing certain tasks outlined by the leaders and political advisers of the Normandy Four countries: humanitarian, economic, ceasefire and related issues, “says Reznikov.

Initially, negotiations in this format were created by the Normandy Four to discuss various logistical issues, the minister explained.

“This platform was created at the initiative of the leaders of the Normandy Four to solve such problems. But we, thanks, among other things, to the activity of the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation, these expectations have been overestimated since 2014.” Reznikov concluded.

We will recall that earlier the minister estimated Ukraine’s losses from the war in Donbass. Losses to the Ukrainian economy are estimated at $ 120 billion and the Donbass restoration at $ 21 billion.

Free economic zone. Why does Donbass need it?
