The deputy prime minister and minister for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, said that “less blood has been spilled” by Crimea than by Donbass.
The return from Crimea may be easier than the occupied areas of Donbass. The Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, expressed this opinion to Radio Svoboda in an interview that was published on November 7.
“I will tell you that the history of Crimea and the return of Crimea to Ukraine completely as an occupied territory today is even, perhaps, an easier option, because there was no military action, as in the partially occupied Donbass. Less blood was spilled,” said. …
The deputy prime minister agreed that the replacement of the population in the occupied peninsula is “a task that must be solved.”
“Not everything is easy. Today we live in a world where classical wars are no longer fought, but hybrid wars are fought. Therefore, the response and protection against hybrid aggression should be the same hybrid movements,” Reznikov said.
Russia annexed Crimea after illegal referendum on March 16, 2014… Ukraine and most of the countries of the world do not recognize the accession of the peninsula to the Russian Federation. At the moment, there is a checkpoint regime between mainland Ukraine and Crimea, and Kiev does not de facto control the peninsula.
In connection with the occupation of the peninsula, several countries, including the United States and representatives of the European Union, have introduced sanctions against Russia.
On August 26, Zelenskiy announced that Kiev could secure the return of Crimea, although for the time being Russia refuses to discuss the issue.
Kiev began the creation of an international platform of Crimea for the unemployment of the peninsula. In particular, in August 2020, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba invited the United States to participate in the work of the platform and the United Kingdom in October.
