Only passengers wearing non-valve respirators and masks may board the UIA

Passengers can only stay on the plane if they have protective equipment: a medical mask or a respirator without an exhalation valve.

The use of exhalation valve respirators is prohibited on board Ukraine International Airlines as of October 12. This was announced on Thursday, October 8, by the UIA administration.

It is specified that, in this case, passengers may remain on the plane only if they have protective equipment: a medical mask or a respirator without an exhalation valve.

Only children under the age of six and passengers with non-COVID-19 respiratory problems are allowed on board without a mask or respirator. In this case, at check-in or boarding, you must provide an appropriate medical note and a negative PCR test for COVID-19, performed no earlier than 48 hours prior to departure.

Several major airlines reportedly warned passengers that they would refuse to board the plane if they were traveling with a mask or a valve respirator.

Protective equipment with a valve makes them more comfortable to wear and protects the person by filtering the inhaled air, but releases the air to the outside without cleaning.

Therefore, the mask does not provide adequate protection to other travelers. This is what airlines stand for in favor of the ban on valve masks.
