Elections in Ukraine

Almost 30 people agreed to travel to a distant region for a relatively small fee.

Law enforcement officials exposed another voter bribery scheme, which was organized by residents of the Lugansk region. This was announced on Sunday, October 25, by the press service of the National Police.

It is noted that one of the organizers of the “carousel” approached a friend with a proposal to earn money – to find the maximum number of people who would agree to go to the Kiev region for 500 hryvnia and vote.

In all, 28 people found the “agreements” that agreed to vote for a certain candidate. The organizers bought train tickets from them to Kiev, from where the “voters” were taken by minibus and taken to the town of Gatnoye, Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district.

However, police officers from the Kiev region stopped the minibus and took all its passengers to the police station. Colleagues from the Lugansk region law enforcement agencies helped arrest the four organizers of the scheme.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the event of bribery of a voter, a participant in a referendum, a member of an electoral commission or a referendum commission (part 4 of article 160 of the Penal Code). The sanction of the article provides a punishment in the form of imprisonment of up to seven years.

We will recall, earlier, the police stopped two buses transporting “voters” from the Dnepropetrovsk region to Kiev.

Overall, as of 3:00 p.m., the police reported 2.4 thousand violations in local elections. Especially in the capital, the Kiev and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
