The World Health Organization recommends not using Remdesivir for COVID-19 patients, regardless of the severity of the disease. Experts said that at present “there is no evidence that the drug improves the condition of patients.”
The corresponding recommendation appeared on the WHO website.
The WHO recommendation against the use of the drug was developed in collaboration with the non-profit organization Magic Evidence Ecosystem Foundation (MAGIC). The expert group consisted of 28 clinical care experts, four patients, and an ethicist.
By the way, US President Donald Trump was treated with “Remdesivir” when he contracted the coronavirus in October.
Recall that the drug “Remdesivir”, which is used to treat patients with COVID-19, began to be distributed in hospitals in Ukraine. This drug is used in the United States and European countries.
Prior to this, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) verified information on a serious side effect of Remdesivir after some patients complained of kidney problems. In Europe, it was allowed to be sold as a drug for COVID-19 in July 2020.
